We were invited to a dinner party at the Mission Home Friday. Most of the Senior Couples in Sydney South Mission gathered for a dinner of grilled hamburgers, fresh salsa, and watermelon, grape and blueberry salad. There were even grilled mushrooms and onions for the hamburgers. Elder and Sister Hill brought tomatoes and lettuce from their garden! (Yes, they are full time missionaries!) It was as much fun to get acquainted as it was to eat such a delicious meal. Some ordered “the lot” like the Aussies and also got a fried egg and beet root (pickled beets) on their hamburger. Elder Kinghorn said it tasted good!
Us newer missionaries told a little about ourselves after dinner. It was so interesting to hear how the
Jensens (right) became active again. He promised a ward member that he would come to church when the blacks received the priesthood. So in June 1978, they started attending church again and liked it so much, they have been active ever since.
The Hills invited us to speak in their Branch in Bathurst March 15. We will go the Saturday before and stay overnight with them, since it is a 3 hour drive. I look forward to seeing more of Australia.
We enjoyed beautiful fruit pizza for dessert. Since summer is just ending, there is lovely fruit available. The white nectarines are like candy.
The Stenlunds (above) teach Institute in Canberra. They also help with flat inspections.
I have never seen a kitchen and patio cleaned faster. We may be Seniors, but together we can work quickly. We didn’t linger because many had morning meetings with Elder Bednar on Saturday.
