To the Coast

Christie, Elder Kinghorn, Vaughn, Sisters Lee and Ah Colt after Conference Sunday.

The Sunday Vaughn and Christie were here was the 12th of April, our General Conference weekend. We enjoyed very much the Sunday morning session along with many of the Mortdale Stake members. I especially felt the power of our Savior’s atonement while listening to Elder Holland’s talk.

Vaughn and Christie got to meet President and Sister Back and several of our missionaries. Generous members prepared some food for us missionaries after the session, so we had some appetizers before IMG_3360walking to our flat for lunch.

(Robert we thought you would especially like this one)

That afternoon, we drove to Botany Bay and walked along the beautiful coast. We first went to the rocky outcropping of cliffs at the end of the road, where it was very windy and cold enough for a warm jacket. Then we drove the short distance back to the protected beach area, where it was calm and beautiful. You may remember that this is where Captain Cook landed in 1770. The plaque on the rock describes the native’s unsuccessful efforts to prevent them from landing. The monument was erected on the 100year anniversary of their landing.IMG_3362

We enjoyed a quiet walk along the beach searching for shells. We could see central Sydney past the shipping terminus across the bay.IMG_3368IMG_3366
