Two homes in our neighborhood sold recently. We pass them every day as we walk to and from the office. Thelma is moving to a pensioner’s (retirement) village, and the young family will be getting a bigger home. These are 3 bedroom homes with 1 bath, built in the 1960’s. Thelma has been the only owner of hers and is meticulous in taking care of her home and yard.
Some sales are handled more like an auction here, with all buyers gathering at the home and highest bidder winning. The date for the auction was announced right on the large advertising sign in front. Thelma did not auction her home, but the agent did a similar thing, gathering all those interested at the home and selling to those that offered the most. Thelma’s home sold for $1.1 million and the other home went for $1.3 million. We know all this through Peter, our friendly neighbor. Ken, another neighbor was irritated that agents kept contacting him saying, “It’s a great time to sell!”
Thelma’s home is across the street and the other a few doors down from the church. Imagine the worth of the property our church building is on!
This is an older home in the neighborhood. It may be worth just as much because of its location in quiet, safe Mortdale.
